Convert one bank statement to experimental QBO or OFX
Prepare a file-based import from exactly one account and one statement. Complete and review the required metadata, keep identifiers masked, then test the result in the destination software before relying on it.
QBO and OFX are experimental. There is no direct synchronization, and these exports are not certified by QuickBooks or any other accounting application.
Exactly one account
The conversion must contain one account with one statement.
Complete metadata
Account type, masked number, currency, and statement dates are required.
Test before use
Import into a test or review workflow in the destination application.
An export file, not an accounting-platform connection
StatementExport can generate experimental QBO and OFX files only when the conversion has exactly one account and one statement. Required account and statement metadata must be complete, and every exported transaction needs a date, signed amount, and stable identifier. QBO bank-account files also need a bank identifier; credit-card statements follow the credit-card account path.
Account and bank identifiers are masked before generation. That privacy constraint can differ from what a destination application expects, so a generated file may be rejected or mapped incorrectly. Test with the intended software and review imported dates, amounts, signs, duplicates, account selection, and opening or closing balance behavior.
Check metadata before enabling the format
This fictional checklist illustrates export eligibility. It is not a QBO or OFX download and contains no real account data.
| Requirement | Synthetic value | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Accounts / statements | 1 / 1 | Eligible |
| Metadata | Masked account, type, currency, dates | Complete |
| Transaction fields | Date, signed amount, stable ID | Complete |
| Destination test | Not run | Required |
No QBO or OFX sample is offered for download. A destination-software test is specific to the reviewed conversion and its metadata.
Make import assumptions visible
Single-statement gate
The experimental buttons remain unavailable for multiple accounts or statements.
Editable metadata
Review account type, currency, masked account number, bank ID, and statement period before export.
Stable transaction fields
Eligible rows require a date, signed amount, and stable identifier for file generation.
Standard fallback formats
CSV and XLSX remain the standard full exports when QBO or OFX is unsuitable.
Review, generate, test, then decide
-
1. Process one statement
Use a conversion containing exactly one account and one statement.
-
2. Correct rows and metadata
Resolve extraction warnings and supply the required masked account and statement details.
-
3. Generate the experimental file
Choose QBO or OFX only after the eligibility checks are satisfied.
-
4. Test the destination import
Verify the account mapping and every imported transaction before using the result in live books.
Compatibility is not guaranteed or certified
QBO and OFX import behavior varies by application, version, region, account type, and metadata expectations.
- The export requires exactly one account and one statement with a masked account number, account type, currency, period start, and period end.
- QBO bank-account exports require a bank identifier; eligible transaction rows need dates, signed amounts, and stable IDs.
- Masked account and bank identifiers may not match an existing destination account automatically.
- StatementExport provides no direct sync, connection, or certification from QuickBooks or any other accounting application.
- Always test the file in the destination software. Use CSV or XLSX as the standard full export when the experimental format is not accepted.
