Convert a PDF bank statement to Excel

Turn transaction rows from a digital or scanned statement into a reviewable XLSX workbook. Check dates, descriptions, debits, credits, and balances before using the file.

The first eligible PDF up to 5 pages in each 24-hour guest session includes full XLSX and CSV export. PDFs over 5 pages or files uploaded while another PDF owns the free slot receive a sample of up to 25 transactions.

Typed Excel cells

Recognized dates are written as date cells and monetary values as numeric cells, not display-only text.

Review before download

Compare extracted values with the source page and correct rows before exporting the workbook.

Scanned-page support

Scanned pages use local Tesseract OCR; the result can be incomplete or wrong and requires review.

A spreadsheet workflow, not a PDF copy-and-paste

A bank statement PDF is designed for reading, not calculation. StatementExport identifies transaction rows and prepares an XLSX workbook so recognized dates and amounts can behave as spreadsheet values.

Extraction is only the first step. Review the preview against the original, correct ambiguous rows, and then download Excel. This matters when a statement has wrapped descriptions, unusual columns, or scan noise.

In the XLSX file, recognized dates and amounts are typed cells. Always compare the workbook with the PDF before relying on totals.

Why Excel

A practical workbook for checking and analysis

Dates and numbers stay usable

Typed cells can be sorted, filtered, or used in your own formulas after you verify the values.

Debits and credits remain clear

The bank-transaction layout keeps debit, credit, balance, currency, and confidence fields visible.

Corrections come before export

Edit an extracted row in the review table instead of repairing the final workbook blindly.

How it works

From PDF statement to reviewed XLSX

  1. 1. Upload the PDF

Choose one unlocked PDF. Text-based pages are read first; scanned pages may need local OCR.

  2. 2. Check every transaction

Review dates, descriptions, amounts, balances, warnings, and low-confidence rows against the source.

  3. 3. Export the workbook

After corrections, download XLSX and perform a final check before bookkeeping or analysis.

Before you convert

Excel output still needs human review

Statement layouts and scan quality vary. The converter structures detected data; it does not guarantee accounting correctness.

  • Uploads must be unlocked PDFs no larger than 25 MB or 50 pages. Password-protected PDFs are rejected.
  • Local Tesseract OCR can misread faint text, cropped pages, handwriting, decimal marks, and dates.
  • Unusual or changing statement layouts can produce missing, merged, or incorrectly classified rows.
  • Review the preview and compare totals with the original before using the XLSX file.
  • Guest originals, exports, extracted statement data, and normalized rows are scheduled for purge after the 24-hour session; a minimal deleted-status operational record remains. Signed-in originals and exports are scheduled for deletion after 7 days; extracted rows remain in history until the conversion is deleted.
Excel questions

PDF bank statement to Excel FAQ

Can I convert a PDF bank statement to Excel for free?
Yes. The first eligible PDF up to 5 pages in each 24-hour guest session includes a full XLSX export without registration or a card. PDFs over 5 pages or files uploaded while another PDF owns the free slot receive a sample of up to 25 transactions. Failed or empty processing releases the slot.
Does the download use XLS or XLSX?
The available Excel export is XLSX. It writes recognized dates and monetary values as typed cells.
Can it process a scanned bank statement?
Scanned pages use local Tesseract OCR. Blurry, skewed, faint, or complex scans can produce errors, so review is required.
Do I need to check the Excel workbook?
Yes. Correct low-confidence or inaccurate rows in the preview and compare the final workbook with the original PDF.
How long is the original PDF retained?
Guest originals are scheduled for cleanup after the 24-hour session. Signed-in and organization originals are scheduled for deletion after 7 days.
